COLUMBIA — Maury County Fire Department units had a busy first weekend of May, responding to two significant calls within 24 hours of each other, according to department posts on social media. On Saturday, May 2 at 10:43 p.m., units were dispatched to a motor vehicle accident on Williamsport Pike at the railroad tracks. Details on injuries were not provided in the department's post.

The following afternoon, on Sunday, May 3 at 12:13 p.m., units assisted Maury EMS with a traumatic injury call in Culleoka. The injuries were serious enough to require an Air Evac helicopter, which landed at a staging location to transport the patient. The department did not release further details on the patient's condition. The Muletown Journal thanks every firefighter, EMT, and paramedic who responded to these calls — the work they do on our behalf rarely gets enough recognition.
