HUMBOLDT, Reinhausen Inc., a German manufacturer of transformer technology and grid-automation systems, announced plans to expand its production facility in Gibson County, creating 90 new jobs and investing $6.7 million in Humboldt.

The expansion will support accelerating customer demand for advanced transformer production, voltage regulation, and grid-automation technologies. Founded in Germany in 1868, Reinhausen first entered the U.S. market in 1987 when it established operations in Alamo, Tennessee. A few years later, the company relocated its American headquarters to Humboldt, where it has remained for nearly four decades. Today, Reinhausen operates on six continents with approximately 5,000 employees globally.

The investment underscores Tennessee's position as a hub for energy infrastructure manufacturing. Germany is one of Tennessee's top sources of foreign direct investment, with more than 115 German companies operating across the state, accounting for nearly 23,000 jobs and $7 billion in capital investment. Companies like Hitachi, Hyosung HICO, and Reinhausen reflect a broader trend: energy-sector manufacturers are increasingly choosing Tennessee for its combination of skilled workforce, stable business environment, and proximity to major electrical grid infrastructure.

Governor Bill Lee noted in a statement that the expansion matters not just to Gibson County but to all Tennesseans. As the nation's electrical grid undergoes modernization and faces increasing demand from data centers, industrial facilities, and electrification efforts, Tennessee companies positioned to serve that market will drive economic opportunity across West Tennessee and beyond. Reinhausen's confidence in Humboldt, expressed through nearly four decades of continuous operation and now through capital expansion, reflects that broader opportunity.
