SPRING HILL, As temperatures rise and outdoor water use increases, the City of Spring Hill is activating its annual water conservation policy for the May through September period.
The schedule divides the city by address. Residents at addresses ending with an even number may water lawns and irrigate outdoors on Sundays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays. Those at odd-numbered addresses are allowed to water on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays. No watering is permitted on Fridays for any resident.
The policy reflects the practical limits of water supply during peak-use months. Spring Hill's rapid population growth, combined with seasonal demand, puts significant strain on the municipal water system. Conservation measures like staggered watering schedules help distribute demand and protect supply reliability for all residents, particularly during dry spells.
For residents accustomed to year-round outdoor watering, the May-to-September restriction requires planning and adjustment. But the alternative, a water shortage that forces emergency conservation or boil-water notices, creates far greater disruption. Compliance is essential to keeping Spring Hill's water system healthy.
